The story of my acquaintance with footbag did not begin with this. The first I bought a knitted Sox. It was presented to a friend. And then, after a long search, I found it. 32 panel footbag. He lasted six months and broke. But now is not about him.
This is mine, it turns out the third footbag bought on the website of the famous flea market of Ukraine. I bought it in the fall, and used it somewhere until mid-January. Those. about 3-4 months. The weather was not very, rain, snow and he repeatedly got wet "to the ends."
The first days it was quite soft, but by the end of the service it became very hard. As if stiffeners appeared at the seams. White dust began to flow from it. And most importantly, I bought a new footbag abroad and understood everything!
Now, I know that this is a miserable likeness and not footbag. And I want people who have seriously decided to play this sport to understand this too. Such a ball is made of natural suede, presumably. She is very thick, a little over 1 mm. by sight and touch. The ball is sewn very tightly, with thick threads. Its size is approximately 6 cm in diameter. Model of 12 panels.
After opening one panel, it turned out that the filler is a lead fraction (quite a bit) and sand. In all likelihood, at first the sand was from a fine fraction, but over time, literally after 1 month, it is grinded to dust. Parts rub against each other and on metal, crumble and turn into dust. Which then, with each stroke, pours out of it. Pretty annoying, I want to notice.
The size of a footbag bag compared to classic 4.5 cm.
Natural suede with a thickness of more than 1 mm. Above is a piece of ultra suede, which should be used 0.5 mm
A little fraction and sand. Half of the sand was ground to dust.
Stitched the ball is interesting. Like the Chinese, or whoever sews them could make the firmware a sewing machine, it remains a mystery to me. But, nevertheless, a double seam is visible, in some places a single seam for some reason. Stitched footbag for unknown reasons with different threads. I can only assume that at first two halves of the ball are sewn, 6 panels each. It is quite simple, and then sewn together manually. Hence the knot, which is visible in the photo with black threads.
In general, it was done ugly, crooked and condo, but somehow it works. This footbag is nowhere to be torn, not shaken. Crops of thread were crammed inside, probably it was too lazy to throw them into the urn.
The shape of the footbag resembles a ball. But still crooked. And the joints of the panels are very rigid, they work like springs. This leads to the fact that the ball bounces from the surface in an arbitrary direction! In the video below, I tried to capture this process. footbags are thrown from a small height, somewhere around 40 cm. Onto a flat surface. As you can see, the ball in question is quite far rolled away. While the lighter footbag 60 grams VS 73 grams remains in place, with a tiny bounce.
In slow motion you can see that footbag has a strong bounce to the side.
And this is how real footbag should fall, with a minimal rebound. He must not spring!
I want to once again pay attention to the material. This is faux suede, very thick. Its weight separately from the filler is 18 grams! This is a huge number. footbags made of thin 0.5-0.6 mm ultra-suede weigh 2 grams!
This material is completely unsuitable for footbag freestyle. He is springy! He does not hold a sphere forum! It is not restored to its original state!
The weight of this stuffed footbag is 73 grams. I suspect that a lot of sand has gone in the form of dust.
Without filling, footbag weighs 18 grams! The weight of my balls is 2 grams.
And inside this ball thread is still thrust. What for ? I do not know.
Actually, the wrong side of footbag. The last stitch in the photo, I guess.
The reverse side of footbag, closeup. Seen double !! the seam.
And the threads themselves with which footbag is stitched. By the way, pretty strong, I must admit.
I did not just buy this ball - footbag and cut it. I am an active (everyday) user of this product. Today, I have several other footbags from abroad and I sew my own. I think my opinion is fairly objective. This ball is not suitable even for a novice athlete. I was like that, I know. I’ve been training for more than a year, but so far, it’s hard for me to catch this ball even on toe. I have matching shoes - Rod Laver and my favorite Rbk G-unit. And still ...
This footbag is rolling off its feet, springing. He has a diameter too large for my taste. Heavy weight. Perhaps this is a ball for no game. But, they sold it to me and still sell it (maybe other people) just like a footbag ball. He is absolutely not suitable for this.
